Women's Division created at Brissie Big Air 2021

Local kiteboarding community creates an exciting change for this year's Brissie Big Air comp

This week, chatter amongst female kiters has generated enough interest in registering for the November 2021 Brissie Big Air competition, the Committee have held late night discussions and decided the best way to support the interest was to create a Women's Division.

In a BBA first, women registered for the Queens Beach North event will compete against each other for the Inaugural Title of the dedicated division.

Previously the competition has attracted a handful of women at most, with them competing for the one title of overall winner on the day.

Though this has been common for women in sport, the overwhelming interest in this year's event has generated bigger numbers.

The traditional format of BBA will be retained with standard Heats of six riders. All age divisions, mens, womens, Masters all ride together across the day of Heats. Each kiter will continue to get two opportunities to record their biggest jump.

All the action will be recorded using Woo devices - which detects jumps by tracking and analyzing each kiters motion. This allows for all kiters jumps to be recorded accurately in order to determine the Finals participants.

With a change to formally recognise the women's participation and separate them from the men's records, Brissie Big Air is now keen to engage further Competition Sponsors to expand the prize pool for equal prize-winnings.

Interested businesses, organisations and individuals keen to be involved as a Sponsor can download a Sponsorship Proposal. Along with access to the Sponsorship Proposal, interested parties are encouraged to read more via the Sponsors information on the Brissie Big Air website.

As at today, almost two thirds of the field has been registered to participate for the competition via Kiteboarding Australia. If you're yet to secure your spot, there are limited spots left. Head across to the Registration page ASAP.

The additional attraction of pre-ordering competition shirts has helped secure early registrations. Competitors can register and pre-order their shirt at the same time, with T-Shirt orders closing this Friday.

However, with the new women's division created, the Committee is expecting reserved spots to also be filled by this Friday.

Supporters interested in pre-ordering their own BBA4 T-Shirt can contact the Committee via Facebook Messenger with ordering details by Friday 15th October 2021. Read more about the BBA4 T-Shirts here.
